Healthy Tips For Keeping Balanced While You Travel
Consistency is the key to success when it comes to health and fitness, but balance is what helps us maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout the years. This is especially true when we travel. Traveling is a time to enjoy a small break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, but it's not a time to throw all healthy habits out the window. The average person can gain 5 to 10 pounds during a vacation which can take several weeks to come back from. I truly love to travel and sample all the local foods (and drinks), but I balance this with keeping some of my healthy habits throughout the trip. Here are a few healthy tips for keeping balanced while traveling:
1.Drink at least half my body weight in water (more if it's hot or you are drinking alcohol)
2.Start your day with a quick workout
3.Eat a light breakfast with some healthy fats such as avocado to keep you feeling full longer
4.Choose drinks that are not high in sugar and fat (like pina coladas), but rather having a mojito with no sugar and adding some liquid stevia to sweeten.
If I do find I've over indulged just a little too much on my trip, I never beat myself about it and I don't let a week vacation become a month log binge. I just make sure to get right back on track when I get home and add an extra green smoothie into my daily routine for next few days. As with everything in life, if you are balanced in your choices, you're body will thank you.
